DATO’ DR THILLAINATHAN A/L RAMASAMY

Dato’ Dr Thillainathan a/l Ramasamy, a Malaysian, was appointed to the Board of UM Holdings Sdn. Bhd.  on 20 May 2013 and appointed Chairman on 20 April 2015.

He is also a member of the Board of Directors [Lembaga Pengarah Universiti (“LPU”)] of UM, the sole shareholder of UMH.

Dato’ Thillainathan graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from University of Malaya. Subsequently, he obtained Master of Science and PhD in Economics from London School of Economics.

Dato’ Thillainathan served as a Lecturer and Associate Professor of UM from 1970 to 1979. He left the education industry to join the banking industry and was appointed the Chief Executive of Bank Buruh Malaysia Bhd. in 1984. Subsequently, he joined Genting Bhd. Group from 1989 to 2007 and was appointed as Chief Operating Officer in 2002 and subsequently became an Executive Director in 2003.

He was also involved in numerous associations and organisations such as the Malaysian Economic Association, the Federation of Asean Economic Association, Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers and the National Chamber of Commerce & Industry Malaysia.

Currently, he sits on the Boards of Allianz Malaysia Bhd., Allianz General Insurance Company (Malaysia) Bhd., Allianz Life Insurance (Malaysia) Bhd., Petronas Dagangan Bhd., Genting Bhd., Citibank Bhd. and Asia Capital Reinsurance Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. He is also a Fellow of the Institute of Bankers Malaysia.

PROFESSOR DATO’ DR. MOHD AMIN BIN JALALUDIN

Prof. Dato' Dr. Mohd Amin Bin Jalaludin

Professor Dato' Dr. Mohd Amin Jalaludin commenced his position as the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Malaya on 8th November 2013. Prior to this appointment, he has held the position of the Head of Department of Otorhinolaryngology in October 1996 until January 2000. He was then promoted to the position of Associate Professor in June 1996 and Professor on the 20th January 2000. In the following month, February 2000, he was appointed as the Deputy Dean of FPUM and became the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine in April 2000. Prof. Dato' Dr. Mohd Amin Jalaludin was appointed as the Director of the UM Medical Center in June 2000. On 1st August 2006, he was appointed as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic & International) of the University of Malaya by the Malaysia Ministry of Higher Education.

As an academic, Prof Dato' Dr. Mohd Amin Jalaludin has contributed extensively in research and in the Medical Profession. He has conducted research in the areas of Otology (Head and Neck Surgery), Laryngology, and Otorhinolaryngology. These and other works have been published in more than 70 journal papers and 36 conferences/seminars and other Publications. He has also been actively involved in many professional medicine committees and he is currently the President of the Asia Pacific Academic Consortium Public Health (APACPH) and Vice-President of the Asian Federation Laryngectomies Association (AFLA), and Honorary Medical Advisor of the Spastic Children's Association of Selangor and Federal Territory. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeon Edinburgh, Scotland, and also a Fellow of American Academy of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, USA.

PROFESSOR EMERITUS DATO’ DR. LIAN CHIN BOON

Prof Emeritus Dato' Dr. Lian Chin Boon

Professor Emeritus Dato' Dr Lian Chin-Boon, Malaysian, was appointed to the Board on 27 May 2015. He is also the Chairman of the Board of Management, University of Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC)

He graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) from Gujerat University in 1971. He obtained his post-graduate Fellowship in Dental Surgery from the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Glasgow, Scotland (FDSRCPS) in 1979. Dato' Lian was formerly a Professor of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery in University Malaya, a position he held from 1991 until his retirement in 2004. He was conferred the Darjah Dato' Paduka Mahkota Perak (DPMP) in 1997. He has also been conferred many fellowships and holds positions in numerous associations and organisations.

During his career, he has delivered numerous lectures at local and international conferences as well as published many articles in local and international academic and professional journals and undertaken projects and research. Presently, Dato' Lian is a Director of Tokio Marine Insurans (Malaysia) Berhad and Asia Insurance (Malaysia) Berhad. He is also a Non-Independent Non-Executive Director of Pulai Group since  9 February 2007.

PUAN HALIZA BINTI HARUN

Puan Haliza Binti Harun, a Malaysian,  was appointed to the Board of UM Holdings Sdn. Bhd. on 6 August 2010.

Puan Haliza graduated with a Bachelor of Accountancy (Hons) degree from the University of Malaya. She also holds a Master in Business Administration from UM.

Puan Haliza started her career as an Accounts Assistant with Standard Chartered Bank, Kuala Lumpur. Thereafter, she served the Auditor’s General Office in Kuala Lumpur and Penang as Assistant Accountant. In 1991, she joined UM as Deputy Treasurer. She was promoted as Financial Controller/Treasurer of UM in 2010. In 2011, she was appointed as the Bursar of UM.

Puan Haliza is also a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountant.

Ar. SAIFUDDIN BIN AHMAD

Ar. Saifuddin bin Ahmad is the Principal of SAIFUDDIN ARCHITECT and Director of SNO ARCHITECTS SDN BHD. He obtained his Diploma in Architecture from University Teknologi Malaysia in 1980 and completed his Bachelor of Architecture at Deakin University, Australia in 1982

He is a member of the Board of Directors (Lembaga Pengarah Universiti Malaya “LPU”) and a member of the Board of Directors of UM Plantations Sdn Bhd, UM Capital Berhad and UM Jana Dana Sdn Bhd, Chairman of Audit Committee Universiti Malaya (2011-2017), Chairman of UM Master Plan (2015-2017), Chairman of Facility Management Committee (2011-2017) and Chairman of “Jawatankuasa Rayuan Tatatertib Pelajar” (2015-2017).

He is Past President on Council of Pertubuhan Arkitek Malaysia, President of PAM (2011-2013) and in March 2010, he was appointed as a Fellow of Pertubuhan Arkitek Malaysia. He is LAM representative on the Board of Planners (2008-2009), Board of Quantity Surveyors (2009-2017) and Exco member Balai Ikhtisas Malaysia (BIM) (2010-2011)

Among the many public and other appointments, Ar Saifuddin has been appointed as an Academic Advisors for Master of Architecture Program, Department of Engineering and Built Environment at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). Board of Study (BoS) members for the International Islamic Universiti Malaysia (IIUM) Master of Architecture Programme, Advisory Committee Members for Design and Architecture Faculty, Universiti Pertanian Malaysia (UPM) and Member of the Industrial Advisory Panel for Bachelor of Science in Architecture, School of Built Environment, University College of Technology Sarawak (UCTS).

He was also involved in various Competition and Awards and was appointed as Chief Juror to judge the Pertubuhan Arkitek Malaysia (PAM) Gold Medal Awards, Juror for the CIDB 2015 Malaysian Construction Industry Excellence Awards (MCIEA), Juror for DBKL competition awards “Pertandingan Peningkatan Imej Reka Bentuk Bandar”, Juror for Singapore Institute of Architects (SIA) Architectural Design Award and Juror for 'Architecture+Design and CERA Awards, India.

Ar Saifuddin has actively participates in presentation of papers and talks in an international conferences and seminars.

 Ar. Saifuddin had the opportunity to successfully design, manage and complete the Low Energy Office (LEO) for the Ministry of Green Technology and Water in Putrajaya, Parcel E. This building was designated by the Ministry as a showpiece and basis for all future Energy Efficient Buildings in Malaysia and was conferred the prestigious ASEAN Energy Award 2006 by the ASEAN CENTRE for Energy.  The LEO Building was also chosen to be on the Malaysian 50 sen stamp for the Energy Efficiency Building Series in 2009. This building was also accorded Green Building Index Silver rating.
